The ventral drain is designed to drain liquid secretions,
including blood, from postoperative wounds
after procedures within the abdominal cavity.

The ventral drain is a flexible tube, having only a central lumen or central lumen and three or four or seven side holes in the distal section, near tip.
All holes have smooth, rounded edges to prevent trauma during use.
The drain has a radiopaque line that allows positioning under X-ray (except for the DB24F200 version of the drain).
Drain DB24F200 at the proximal tip has a glued-in cap.
